Micro-filtration actually does remove viruses and bacteria - excellent choice
UPDATEWe have been using this jug now for 9 months & have to say it us superb. If I could give it 6 stars I would. I have increased its rating to 5 stars. The water it produces is pure, clean tasting and the jug is standing the test of daily use.---------------------------------------------Great value jug reduced to 4 stars over the untested longevity of the materials. Good pouring and very effective filtration. On the filtration side, far better to use a filter such as this which actually does remove viruses and bacteria and not just one that is only a fancily dressed up carbon filter. No point using one otherwise, really, is there!

Good and bad points
Good and bad points for this filter jug.At £10 per cartridge it is expensive, however it does last 3 months so I can live with that. The jug itself is sturdy, however the lid is a bit flimsy. There is a useful little flap that you can lift to allow you to fill the jug with tap water. However when you pour the water out it can be a little bit hit and miss because it either trickles out or gushes depending on whether you lift the flexible piece of the lid near the spout up. I leave it down to avoid a soaking! The water filters through rather slowly, so I usually filter well before I need the water, alternatively I do a little tap dance routine whilst I wait for it to filter.I was impressed that it has a piece of rubber on the base to stop it sliding or moving about, unfortunately in less than a week of me having the jug the piece of rubber dislodged itself as it is only slotted into a groove on the base. Disappointing. All in all I shall persist with this jug and really hope that the filter lives up to its claims - we have no way of knowing.

The Aqua Optima jug is so fundamentally bad (I cant stress this enough) that it was either an act of god or ....................
I honestly & sincerely struggled not to write a bad review for this product as there are only two mainstream water filter companies in the UK, and I just ditched Brita after reading an independent review comparing their water filters to five others and Brita may as well be stuffing their products with cheese cloths because their results were dismal !The Aqua Optima jug is so fundamentally bad (I cant stress this enough) that it was either an act of god or a board room full of chimpanzees that voted it into mass production. Read on for the highlight of faults and bear in mind apart from the filter which I hope (!!!) works because its shaped and sized like a missile silo and takes forever to filter (so it must be doing some heavy lifting) - the rest is just a plastic jug.1. First jug had a broken front lip lid - returned & replaced - thank you Amazon Prime !2. Incredibly cheap plastic - I wouldn't be surprised if it starts to discolour over time.3. The top lid will not seal to the jug and you are at constant risk of it falling off & breaking due to the flexing of the rest of the jug whenever you try and pour a drink.4. The front lip lid will not open/flex properly, so you're either at risk of pouring a glass of water and having it spill everywhere or having it trickle out unless you open it manually yourself.5. If there is still water in the non filtered section of the jug and you try and pour a drink, you'll fail ! This is again down to the poor seal between the top lid and the rest of the jug. Water from the non filtered section will seep out and mix with the filtered water coming out - defeating the purpose of the filter all together. Ive tried using tape (see the attached picture) but no luck - theres just too much flex. The only solution to avoiding the headache of the jug to keep refilling glass bottles with the filtered water and use that instead of reaching for the jug.I hope this review helped and good luck if you decide to buy one.

Hardy filters TDS at all. In London the TDS ...
Hardy filters TDS at all. In London the TDS was 330 before filtering and 270 after. With the aqua optima evolve, it will take it from 330 to ≈150.

This water filter is mostly really good. Firstly the water tastes noticeably different, for the better, without the normal bitterness you get out the tap. The design is simple enough and it does what i says, although it takes a while to filter the water. The build quality also lets it down, it feels quite fragile. Water can also seep through without being filtered, but only if you fill it right to the top.All in all for the money it's great value with a filter that lasts 3 months, match that with the fairly inexpensive price for new filters and it's highly recommended. Just a few issues with design, build quality and filter time let it down slightly.

Fabulous tasting water and easy to use.
We recently moved into a new build house and while the cold water tap is clear, there's bits of sand/brick sand in our water! It has a slightly metallic-pipe taste as well which isn't pleasant. I considered a Brita but needed something that could efficiently filter out bits of brick dust that is still lurking in our pipes! This does the trick and is slim enough to fit into the side door of our fridge. Recommended if you need a more heavy duty water filter.

I don't mind this so much but it is a little annoying when you just want to have a quick drink ...
This filter is ok, i'm not sure i would buy it again. I was looking for a filter that had a more stringent filter process which this does. Because it filters out more things the filter process takes a long time then say a Brita water filter. I don't mind this so much but it is a little annoying when you just want to have a quick drink of water. The most annoying thing is that the lid does not fit properly, if you push the inner compartment that you pour water into snugly into the jug it widens the jug so that the lid does not fit snugly on top. This is really irritating and makes the lid pointless. This design flaw needs to be addressed.

very good system
The filters make this filter system very inexpensive and convenient.Lasting for 3 months is ideal and the taste is so pleasant and easy to drink,it beats any jug filtered water that I have tasted before.

Recomendable
