Beautiful, well designed, solid construction - But needs tweaking to prevent accidental collapse
I have used both this Cordoba and the Altamira footstool ( TFRWA TENOR Wooden Professional Guitar Foot Stool ).I like this footstool much better than the Altamira, and it is 20% cheaper! It is a better deigned footstool because it has a much wider and level foot surface (almost no incline). The Cordoba legs are also wider apart for more stability than the Altamira footstool. Unlike the Altamira, the Cordoba footstool legs barley protrude above the foot surface in the four corners and so the player's foot has a flat surface to rest on.Warning: Both this Cordoba footstool and the Altamira ( TFRWA TENOR Wooden Professional Guitar Foot Stool ) have the same risk of suddenly collapsing closed if the front bar accidentally jumps out of the grooves. I found that placing some small self-adhesive felt padding (like the kind used on the bottom of furniture legs or vases) will help prevent this from happening if it placed on the sides of the desired groove.Foot surface dimensions: 3.75 x 8x75 inches.Adjustable heights: 4.5 , 6 , 7, and 7.75 inchesTotal width(to outer edges of leg): 5.25 inchesTotal Length (closed): 10.5 inchesPros:1) Good solid construction. The pins holding the bottom of the legs apart and the pivot joints are are very secure and heavy duty hardware.2) The very attractive mahogany wood has a nice smooth natural finish exposing the hardwood surface texture. (It is not a high glossy varnish finish.3) The wood color and straight grain matches the description photos well.Cons:1) The product is described as Rosewood and one of the photos displays a burled Rosewood foot surface. However the footstool seems to be made from very solid straight-grained Mahogany.2) The stated dimensions and adjustable heights are incorrect (see my correct measurements above).3) Has no ant-slip rubber pads on bottom of legs to prevent footstool from sliding on smooth floors.4) Should have used split-washers in the leg hinge bolts to provide additional friction when opening and closing the legs and also should have used self-adhesive felt padding on the sides of the height adjustment grooves. This would help minimize front bar accidentally jumping out of the grooves when the foot stool is moved and avoid it suddenly collapsing closed.

Didn't last long
Broke in pieces within a couple of years with very little use. Definitely wouldn't buy again. It sure looks nice though.

Great footstool
I love this footstool, and it's a lot nicer to look at than the metal alternatives. The rounded edges make it very comfortable on sock feet, and I don't have trouble with my foot sliding around. When used for its intended purpose of propping up a leg while playing an instrument, I cannot see this footstool breaking as easily as others have suggested. The wood is quite thick, even around the metal rods. It has worked well for me and I am very happy. One possible downside of the design is that the floor contacts are wooden, so I'm not sure how well this would work on a really slippery surface. It has worked for me on carpet, plastic carpet protectors, and linoleum. On a nice wood floor, the footstool might benefit from having rubber or felt dots placed on points of contact as would be done for a lot of other wooden furniture.

Looks great, works great
Wish it had lower options settings but the lowest works with my seating.Wish it said "don't stand here" on top in a font only children could read - but they haven't broken it yet.Lovely wood, collapsed flat when not in use.I see the other reviews but I don't think in normal usage you'd break it on the lowest setting where there is the least wood to hold it.

junk
This looked like the truly deluxe way to go in foot-stool land, so I did not question the price. Unfortunately it's a shoddily designed piece of junk, and does not stay together for long once you place an actual foot on it. Don't be fooled by the nice picture.

it is a pretty thing. I gave it three stars because it ...
The stool does what a foot stool should do. It's not a complicated job. I ran a piece of masking tape along the slots so that it wouldn't stick to my foot and collapse annoyingly if I played barefoot. Other than that, it is a pretty thing. I gave it three stars because it arrived with a couple of chips out of the corners -- along the grain, and probably the result of flopping around in the mailing envelope. I glued and clamped them back in place and it looks fine now. But, a rubber band and some bubble wrap would have probably (and how can one really know after the fact?) have kept it from clacking against itself.

Quality and Pretty
Well designed, well executed. I like it much better than the cheesy metal ones found at stores like Guitar Center. Certainly looks MUCH better. There are reviews that talk about the height adjustment notches breaking. Folks, this is intended as a foot rest. It's not designed to be a step stool. If you need to stand on something to reach the top shelf, lay your cheap guitar down and stand on it! Then buy a good guitar.
