My brother loves it
Got this set for my brother's birthday after checking over a fair few of the beginner rod sets. He doesn't have any prior experience with fly fishing (plenty of regular fishing experience) but he freakin' loves it. He says it blows his mind every time how far and almost effortlessly it can flick that tiny little fly across the water. He also commented on how the ritual with this kind of rod differs from a regular rod - whereas before, he could basically toss his rod in the back of his truck to and from a fishing spot, not he takes it all apart, makes sure it's all clean and tidy, and replaces it in its case it came it. Little more meticulous, but he said he doesn't mind taking care of a tool the way it's meant to be. Overall, seems like a great beginner's rod.

Great value
All the items in the combo seemed to be of good quality considering the price. Shipping was prompt. Quality of the items is surprisingly good. I have been practicing with it but have not taken it fishing.

Great setup for a trout - using about 6 months
Just updating review now that I''ve been using this setup for quite some time - I've probably caught 100 trout and would recommend this as a great package for a starter kit or someone looking for an inexpensive rod to use for a while - the reel falls apart once in a while, not super well made but works fine. the flies are actually pretty decent too, dry flies seem to work for the last couple hatches around here, good tapered leader, a complete set to get rolling. the fly box is actually nice too, I've a bunch but use this one as my main fly box.Just wish the reel didn't fall apart occasionally (kind of tempermental, has to be tightened the exact right amount, when applied right works fine) - think I'm ready to upgrade to a new reel and may will try keeping the pole.

Great Set Up, Quality Components and Ready to Go in Minutes....
I purchased this complete kit with an interest of getting into fly fishing. Getting the complete kit made it much easier to get started; having the tippet attached and fly line on the reel ready to go meant simply putting the rod together, attaching the reel, threading the line through the guides and tying on one of the included flys. In short order I was standing in the shallows punishing the fly with my first indelicate casts. The components are really solid quality, the rod flex seems to work for beginners like myself, and all components have been tough enough to take erratic casts and whipped fly rod impacts. I'm looking forward to long use - the sport has my attention and I'm thankful to Wild Water for getting me off to an easy start. So far, all I've managed to catch is a three inch sunfish - not exactly the rocket surgeon of fish and prone to hanging out in the shallows within my early five foot casting range. I'm getting the fly out there further now, so hopefully those rainbows nosing the surface out there won't be safe for long.

I've only used the new fly rod twice and today I caught my first fish on it, a perch. I was hoping for a trout, but I'll take it. It was a bit of a transition to a fly rod having always used a spinner reel and catfish my preferred fish. Now that I've adjusted, I find it just takes a gentle hand to finesse that line out there. Waiting on some wooly buggers to arrive to try for some bass, fingers crossed. Still have a lot to learn but it was fun feeling that little perch hit and fight. The crane that stole it as I put back in the water was grateful for the meal.I wanted to try out fly fishing but didn't want to invest a lot of money in case it turned out to not be for me. This starter setup was perfect to get my feet wet without breaking the bank. Good job, Wild Water!
