Poor white drug dealers with good hearts just had to run into evil Mexicans
Savages was Oliver Stone’s movie about the drug trade. It focuses upon three friends O (Blake Lively), Chon (Taylor Kitsch), and Ben (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) who are major weed growers/sellers in Southern California. Their problems begin when a Mexican drug cartel wants not only their business but their know how as well. The cartel introduces themselves by sending a video of it beheading a bunch of people as a hello and a beware. The movie poses the trio as a caricature of California and is the main drawback. First, they’re in a love trio with O talking about how her two men are so different but compliment each other like she’s a hippie from the 70s. Chon went to UC Berkeley and uses all his drug profits to run a humanitarian foundation that works in impoverished countries around the world. They live on Laguna Beach in southern California. If they’d made the main characters just the least bit realistic this would have saved the film. The story basically comes down to these good at heart white kids dealing with the evil Mexicans. It's really ridiculous.C

I only watched this flick because Benicio del Torro, Travolta, Hayek are in it.
But when they show the cast, none of the above characters are listed first. And it took 40 minutes to finally see Benicio and Hayek and Travolta. The movie was lame. And to portray these white drug dealers as good? Really, if they are drug dealers, they are no better than the Cartel. How awful to list first in the cast this white chick- who was a freak to share herself between to guys. And the guys, like Hayek tells this O character, they, meaning the two white guys love each other better than they love her. And we can imagine how much they love each other. Suggest they are at the very least bisexual. And shame on Stone to cover it up during a time when so many gay people are afraid to "come out" do to the stigma attached to homosexuality. Benecio De Torro steals the show. Period. Unfortuately Hollywood has not cast him in too many A rated films. To me this film rates as a big ole B.-Oliver Stone notwithstanding

I'M AMAZED MORE REVIEWERS HAVEN'T DISCOVERED THIS MIND-BLOWING GEM
Duck the spoilers if you want . . .Directed by Oliver Stone, with John Travolta in a very un-Travolta role, with more action, scary adventure, morality lessons, R-rated sex, a true rendition of the ups and eventual downs of 'benign' grass. With elegant to horrific production values, it's among the most entertaining and engrossing movie I've seen this year. Could be, ever. A real education, too.SAVAGES' plot slams us from gritty to gorgeous, scary to sexy, beautiful to bloody.Maybe spoilers: A trio of young, beautiful California types, two young men and a beautiful woman, all smart, materialistic, charming and imaginative, discover a way to make and sell dynamite marijuana - cannabis, grass, MJ. Their lives are beautiful. They become millionaires. But when a Mexican drug cartel discovers these 'kids' are overwhelming competition, then come blood reigns. All out war begins between blood-thirsty drug lords and the beachboys and girl California sellers. Okay, enough spoilers already. To talk quality, the production is wonderful, sharp, extravagant, very California vistas, looks, action, color, talk.I hone in on dialogue - the script never goes flat. The action is believably driven by sharp reparte`, vicious drug lord threats. Paradise is blown to hell. All, beautifully. Except for the gallons of blood, brains and bones shattered and splattered. Not for family viewing. More for young adults with a strong messagethat money isn't worth possible dangers, pain and inevitable losses.I study movies, so I've seen SAVAGES three times, examining all elements, from words to pictures to the psychology of greed, the motivation of gimme-more mentalities. Overall, with extremes of bliss and vicious unexpected costs, SAVAGES is very-much a mind blower. (And not, this isn't a cautionary tale. It's just intensely real)Have you seen Johnny Depp's BLOW? Blow [HD ] . . . Cotton Candy, rather sweet and mild compared to the gritty, beautifully and horribly real SAVAGES. Just think a Hemingway quote: "The check always comes".

I like it
Product arrived on time. California entrepreneurs Ben (Aaron Johnson) and Chon (Taylor Kitsch) run a lucrative business raising marijuana and share a one-of-a-kind love with beautiful O (Blake Lively). Life in Laguna Beach is idyllic for them, until Elena (Salma Hayek), the merciless leader of the Mexican Baja Cartel, moves in and demands a piece of the action. However, Elena underestimates the trio's unbreakable bond, and with the help of a shady DEA agent (John Travolta), Ben, Chon and O go to war. Good movie I liked it.

Great movie
I added this movie to my watch list on Netflix and when I went to watch it, it was taken off. It was cheaper to buy on DVD than pay for it on Amazon prime.. Great movie I'm a big fan of Taylor kitsch 😍
