Very Neat
Just had a baby and knew we needed a thermometer. I looked at the traditional ones (ear, underarm etc) but our midwife suggested this model, as she has been evaluating it. At the price I paid (£25-ish) it is very good value and appears to be accurate when compared to control methods. It also allows you to test the temperature of surfaces, which is entertaining for about 30 seconds.Using this device on a baby is a simple matter of turning it on, pressing start, aiming the light above the eyebrow and taking a reading. No contact, no fuss, an answer in a few seconds. We also have a traditional thermometer as a backup, given to us as a present.EDIT: We have since found that it is important to point the device at the head AND body in two separate readings. We found that the temperature between them can vary quite a bit, which is obvious when you consider it. We always use a traditional underarm thermometer when we have any doubt and find that there is a stronger correlation between a "chest" reading and the underarm thermometer. The "head" reading can be somewhat lower than actual.

works as expected
I've read some critical reviews about this thermometer because it seems not so easy to operate.Actually, after I read the guide, I haven't found any problem. It gives the same reading multiple times which make me comfortable about its precision.Of course, it can happen I aim at the wrong point in my children's forehead, and in this case I can get a different reading by few 1/10th of degree. It is actually not a big issue and I remember I got the same difference also with the old mercury thermometers. Also, 37.2 or 37.1 does not make much difference. The good part is that I can take the temperature in 5 seconds without having to beg the kids to stay still, and the beep is not loud so I can do it also while they're at sleep. On a side note, the "house" mode is fun for the fathers to go around and measure the temperature of things :-D

Meets all the requirements
The tympanic thermometer I was supplied with was very inaccurate (always low by more than 1 degree). As a Community Nurse I need equipment that is accurate, reliable, quick, easy to use and have no infection transfer issues. From an infection control standpoint it never touches the patient and there are no disposable caps that need to be purchased, so there is a cost saving too. Any patient with hearing aid doesn't have to remove it to check their temperature. I have been evaluating this thermometer for approximately 3 months now and I can safely say that it is the most accurate thermometer I have used (barring the mercury from yesteryear). This thermometer meets all the requirements above. It is appealing in it's design and simplicity itself to use. This is something that I would recommend to the NHS and it could also save them some money too!

Quick and easy temperature scans
I bought this to measure the temperature of my baby as using an ear thermometer was not very easy. I realise that this may not be as accurate as an ear or rectal thermometer because it measures surface temperature and not actual body temperature, but for the ease of not having to insert it anywhere or need for washing afterwards and its relative accuracy, I think it is worth it.The downside is that it emits some fairly loud beeps during operation which are not ideal when trying not to wake baby. I have not figured out how to mute the beeps (or know if they can be muted). So keep in mind the difference between surface temperature and body temperature (and that not everyone's normal body temperature is the same) to help make your decision for which type of thermometer to purchase.

Versatile and acurate
Although the device is easy to operate, it is fundamental you read the users manual before taking any measurement. There are several measuring possibilities, so first it's important you know what you are about to measure. After a simple read of the instructions it is very easy to operate.I verified the accuracy of the thermometer and it was within 0.1 C degrees from a standard thermometer.Display indicates fever with a read color, wish is simple to read and understand.
