Works and is fun but
It’s easier and faster to cut cubes with a knife. You have to cut the rind off and it’s still slow going. But it is fun.

THE BEST TOOL EVER! Love it!
Seriously, where has this been all my life?!(37 years) this has to be the best and easiest tool ever to cut watermelon! I seen this advertised on the today show. I watch this show religiously but have never bought anything from the steals and deals I think it’s called. I’m glad I bought it. It’s life changing! I have fibromyalgia, which means I have a lot of aches and pains throughout my joints within my body, my hands and wrists being part of it. With this tool, you barley have to put any effort or force. It just glided on through! And walla!! The scoop is really easy too and makes cute and fancy melon balls.Everyone who eats melon needs this in their lives!I’ll definitely use this for honeydew and cantaloupe as well. This also saves a lot of time and much easier then using a knife. Some reviews stated it’s messy and splatters, I had no problem whatsoever with that. You don’t need to jab this into the melon lol. It’s simply glides through it. Even halfway though and at the very end. Will juice start to build up by the end? Yes of course. It’s WATER-melon. It’s mostly water, right? Lol even by using a knife to cut cubes, you’ll still have juices ... I cut mine on a cutting board and occasionally picked it up to drip it into the sink then continued.Since I just got this and only used it once, I can’t state on the quality just yet but it looks and feels well made and sturdy. It doesn’t come with instructions in or on the box. I don’t understand how to change the measurements to make the chunks smaller. Definitely not a deal breaker because like I mentioned, this thing is the best and I love it! The best $12 I ever spent. I plan on buying one for my mom and maybe my sisters.

Different
Does not give you perfect cubes but it saves you time. My wife wanted this and we could knock out a huge watermelon in less then 2 minutes. Put it in the dishwasher and cleans up right away. When holding it, it almost feels like it will break but doesn’t.

Love it
It works great, was surprised by how easily it cuts through the melon. Great for making equal size cuts if you're making a fruit bowl.

Fast! Easy! Gets the job done quickly and efficiently
WOW. Just wow. This thing zips through watermelon like nobodies business, and reduces the overall mess I make. I generally split the melon length wise, take a shallow "flat cut" so it doesn't roll on me, then cut off one of the short ends to get access to the flesh. Then, zip, zip, zip... cubes of deeeelish melon are coming out with ease. I can process a large melon in about 10-15 minutes (including the one-for-me, the rest to storage system of transfer to the containers).Cleanup is a snap, and fun... a quick rinse, let the faucet spin the wheel to get the bits out, and in the drying rack. Even my kiddo <LIKES> to help with the food prep. And the price... sheesh... can't hardly beat it. Cheaper than most good knives, and far faster and more effective. If a "sturdy knife" company where to make this, it would be too heavy and overpriced. Cheap and thin is the right answer for this job... think "think slicer" not "sharpened bat" for melon flesh work, and you'll see what I mean. You can't go wrong. And if you do think you went wrong, it's only about $8-$10, which is cheaper than most theme park thrill rides or a trip to the movies.

Every time I break this unit out and no one seen one before they think it's the coolest thing
As the title said every time I break this unit out and no one has seen it before they think it's simply the coolest thing and then when they see the functionality of it they fall in love with it the same way I did. There's nothing better than eating watermelon or cantaloupe and not having any of the juice run down here face or elbows or hands. It's just phenomenal I mean there's no wasting of the fruit and there's no mess of the fruit you can eat it with a fork in your going to be clean after you get done. If you've never used one before give it a shot you'll love it.

Love it
I bought one of these to try because cutting watermelon can be time consuming especially if you're trying to do it in uniform pieces to add to summer salads etc. This did a great job it was so easy to use and the kids love it.

A knife is still quicker and cleaner
The media could not be loaded. TLDR: A knife is quicker and cleaner, but this thing does indeed give you perfectly square chunks of watermelon with a little prep and effort. So if that's important to you, and you are willing to deal with its eccentricities, go for it. I will stick with my old school knife.I absolutely love watermelon. It is one of my favorite foods, not just favorite fruits. Since my kids share my affinity, we go through several dozen watermelons each season. My sister saw this little gadget on facebook and I immediately went to Amazon to find one. Shipped super fast and had it in my hands the next day with a watermelon waiting. I sliced the watermelon in half lengthwise then chopped off the ends as demonstrated in the video. Good news, the contraption does what it says it does for 99% of the melon. Bad news, it pushes through the last 1% and ends up giving you an odd sized chunk. Also, because I was using on a big Texas watermelon, there were more squares than the tool could hold (see video). Once you get the easy part (center) of the watermelon cut out, you are still left with the 1/2 inch closest to the skin. You can dig around with this thing and it will indeed sling out chunks, but it is very messy and pulverizes to juice a lot of the sweet sweet flesh of the melon. In the end , I ended up using a knife on the second half of the watermelon, which was both quicker and cleaner, and this thing hasn't been out of the drawer since. Honestly not worth the $9 I spent on it.
