The media could not be loaded. Decided to risk it and purchase this for my 2011 Silverado knowing it may not fit. After cutting out the old one is fit perfectly. The only difference is the shock mount. So we reused the old shock mount and flipped the crossmember around so the one that came with it is on the other side.

Welded up great, i had to offset the bracket so the geometry of the bracket matched up to the one on the axle, but i welded the other plate roughly half way inside the frame. 4 - 360⁰ welds and a few 4 - 5 inch beads. I recommend using a cherry picker to pull off the bed. This job becomes about an hour and a half maybe 2 full hours after you pull the bed and get started. Hardest part is removing the old rusted crossmember. Wirefeed is a breeze or use 6011 stick be sure to grind down to clean metal!!. Cover your gas tank with thick canvas or welding blanket, disconnect your battery. Be concious of the wiring harnesses while welding and when removing the bed if you are. Break this job down into steps and plan ahead. Grinders, welder, discs, weather if applicable. Good luck! Idk how much i saved but all i spent was the money on this for new lift kit install and gift cards for buffalo wild wings and dairy queen for my old welding intructor and his wife. He let me come and weld my truck at his shop lol

Product arrived in great shape and was easy to install. The directions recommended using either 6010/6011 rod or E7056 wire with 75/25 gas to attach it to the frame. I opted to use 6013 rod as it’s a fast freeze fill rod with deep penetration. Plus I’m not all that confident in my whip and pause technique needed for the 6010/6011 rods.The included instructions were clear and easy to follow. However, you’re repairing a frame of a 6000 plus pound vehicle, only take on this repair yourself if you’re proficient with welding. Your life and others around you depend on the quality of your repair.

It’s a travesty that GM vehicles are so known to rust at these crossmembers that we have cheap chinese parts available to weld-in. Fitment was OK, not stellar, but at least a little time saving over making your own.
